P-I-G-G-Y
We had more pig fun today! Our word of the day today "are". We learned that this word is a rule breaker, because it has a decoration "e". It also has a bossy r sound, but that follows the rules. This word was very popular. We listed the words on "star of are" to hang on our clothesline. The star of "ar" does not have the decoration e. In math today, we had a fun lesson. We were practicing ordinal numbers. It is a different way to count. We first practiced on our calendar. Then, we had pig races in our classroom. We froze the pigs during the race, and we counted what place they were in. (first, second, third) Then, we used the pigs to do more ordinal counting after the race and colored our own pigs after listening to Mrs. Myers' direction. After lunch and recess, Mrs. Myers read a story called Princess Pigsty. It was a funny story. After the story, we worked in groups to retelling the story. Then, we shared our part of the retelling. Last, we drew our retelling and shared it with a partner. We practiced using first, next, then, last. We had centertime next. Mrs. Myers opened the art center today. We will be making a pig this week. Today we were tracing and body and the nose on pink. We also read pig books in the library center. It was then time for writing workshop. We brainstormed and drew a problem for our story. We also thinking about the solution for tomorrow. At the end of the day, we watched a reading rainbow video about pigs. It was great. Tonight we have Open House. We will take you on a scavenger hunt to learn about first grade. Mrs. Myers can't wait to see you tonight!
